{Sunday's
heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of
gratitudes.}
We have much to be grateful for this last week! Here are a few of the highlights:
-A much needed long hike up the ridge of the mountain behind our house on a beautiful sunny day. We hiked up the south facing ridge and were thrilled to see small green shoots of perennial wildflower leaves pushing up out of the ground!
-Buying seeds for our garden early and getting the ones I wanted before they sold out.
-My husband harvesting an elk in the first few hours of the special damage game hunt he was selected for. We have a lot of butchering to do over the next week but we now have enough meat to make homemade sausages and jerky and plenty to share with friends who help us out.

-The most amazing meal I have eaten in a long while: fresh elk tenderloin, green beans from the garden that I had preserved over the summer and maple glazed parsnips. Yum!
-Our little nugget devouring her sauerkraut instead of spitting it out like last time.
-A wonderful day vending at the local Hooked on Art event.
-Getting to listen to some amazing talented local musicians while we were vending and watching our little nugget clap her hands to the music- it was SO darn sweet!
-The days starting to get longer!

-One of my orchids blooming. It is such a welcome splash of color this time of year when it is gray and dreary outside.
Home grown food always tastes the best, I am looking forward to the days getting longer too!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful list of gratitudes. I have never tried elk, but Prince Charming would be so keen to go on a hunt like that.
